Sony has recently unveiled a cutting-edge innovation in personal climate control with the launch of the futuristic ‘Wearable Air Conditioner’ gadget, the Reon Pocket 5. This innovative device, released on April 23, offers a unique solution to beat the heat by providing personalized comfort on the go.
The Reon Pocket 5, worn on the back of the neck, utilizes a thermos module and a range of sensors to determine the ideal temperature for the user based on factors like temperature, humidity, and motion. With five cooling levels for hot days and four warming levels for cooler environments, this gadget is designed to adapt to various situations, from crowded trains to chilly airplane cabins.
To enhance its functionality, the device can be paired with the Reon Pocket Tag, a wearable sensor that communicates with the neck unit to make proactive temperature adjustments based on the surrounding conditions. Additionally, users can control the Reon Pocket 5 via the Reon Pocket App, available for iOS and Android devices, allowing for convenient adjustments through Bluetooth connectivity.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the Reon Pocket 5 offers a remarkable 17 hours of battery life on a single charge, ensuring extended usage during activities like hiking. While the Reon Pocket series initially launched in Japan in 2019 and gained popularity in Asian markets, the Reon Pocket 5 represents a global expansion, with the UK market being the first to receive the latest version.
Pre-orders for the Reon Pocket 5 are currently available on Sony’s website, priced at 139 pounds. The base package, ‘Reon 5T,’ includes the device, a Reon Pocket Tag, and a white neckband, with an option to upgrade to a beige neckband for an additional cost. The pre-orders are set to start shipping on May 15th, offering consumers a stylish and practical solution for personal climate control.
