Oilers’ Derek Ryan to Bring Energy and Skill in Game 4 Lineup Change

When the Oilers face off against the Kings in Game 4 at Crypto.com Arena, Derek Ryan will step onto the ice, replacing Sam Carrick on the fourth line. Ryan’s presence is expected to inject energy into the team’s lineup and bolster their penalty kill.

Expressing his readiness, Ryan stated, ‘It was my job to stay ready and stay prepared to go in and I’m excited for the opportunity, excited to be back with the guys and get to play.’ Head Coach Kris Knoblauch opted for this lineup change following the Oilers’ convincing 6-1 victory in Game 3, aiming to provide a fresh boost to the team’s performance.

Knoblauch highlighted the strengths of both Ryan and Carrick, emphasizing the need for added energy and fresh legs in the lineup. With Ryan’s return, the Oilers hope to capitalize on their momentum and secure a 3-1 series lead against the Kings.

On the defensive end, Ryan will be tasked with maintaining solidity on the fourth line, contributing to the successful penalty kill that has held strong in the first three games. His ability to win crucial faceoffs will be pivotal, especially when star players like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are off the ice.

The Oilers’ penalty kill has been a standout feature, going a perfect 5-for-5 in Game 3 and maintaining a flawless record of 10 consecutive kills in the series so far. Ryan commended his teammates for their commitment to executing the penalty-kill strategy set by Assistant Coach Mark Stuart.

Meanwhile, the Kings are making a change in goal, with David Rittich taking over the crease for Game 4. This adjustment adds another layer of intrigue to the matchup, setting the stage for an intense battle between the two teams.
