Indie developer Dapper Dog Digital has recently unveiled their latest creation, BioGun, a captivating platforming action-adventure game set in a whimsically microscopic world teeming with viruses and vaccines. Described as a ‘love letter to the Metroidvania genre,’ BioGun immerses players in a hand-drawn universe filled with diverse characters and intricate details.
Players navigate through the cell-eat-cell environment, enhancing their vaccine’s DNA and playstyle using nanotechnology to unlock new abilities and weapons. The game offers a seamless side-scrolling 360-degree shooting experience, boasting tight controls and engaging gameplay.
One standout feature of BioGun is its exceptional soundtrack composed by Juhani Junkala, also known as Subspace Audio. The music perfectly complements the game’s whimsical atmosphere and adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the overall experience.
The storyline, though light-hearted and humorous, aligns well with the game’s animation style and genre. Players assume the role of a ‘smart vaccine’ on a mission to combat a ‘pet-demic’ endangering dogs worldwide, emphasizing the importance of the task at hand.
BioGun made its debut in early access on April 16 and is expected to remain in this phase for approximately three months. Developers at Dapper Dog Digital have outlined plans to introduce new side missions, activities, characters, and community events to enrich the gameplay experience.
For those eager to embark on this exciting adventure, BioGun is now available on Steam, offering players a chance to immerse themselves in a world where saving dogs from extinction is the ultimate goal.
