Google Cloud and Shopify have teamed up with Cognizant, an information technology services and consulting company, to provide a new offering for enterprise retailers. This collaboration combines the strengths of Shopify’s commerce platform, Google Cloud’s core cloud infrastructure, and the client delivery of Cognizant’s retail industry advisory and technology implementation specialists.
The alliance aims to address the need for retailers to modernize and adopt new technologies to provide real-time recommendations, shopping assistance, and customized offers to customers. Additionally, the combined offering seeks to unlock the business value of technologies such as generative AI, catering to the evolving nature of digital experiences driven by consumer expectations.
Google Cloud’s vice-president of strategic industries, Carrie Tharp, highlighted the rapid change in consumer expectations as generative AI continues to reshape digital experiences. The company has previously collaborated with retailers like Puma and Revieve to enhance their online shopping operations.
Cognizant’s senior vice-president and head of the retail business unit, Sushant Warikoo, emphasized the potential scope for change through the collaboration, including hyper-tailored customer journeys, personal AI shopping assistants, fraud mitigation, and sustainability initiatives.
This strategic partnership reflects the growing importance of modernization and technological innovation in the retail sector, as retailers strive to meet the evolving demands of consumers and enhance their competitive edge in the market.
