Pittsford, N.Y. – The upcoming total solar eclipse has inspired seventh and eighth-grade students at Calkins Road Middle School in Pittsford to perform a musical titled ‘Midnight at Midday, The Musical Tales of an Eclipse.’ The musical, written by teacher John Beel, tells the story of strangers who meet at the moment of totality.
The performance featured original songs by award-winning composer Casey Filiaci, capturing the magic and mystery of the eclipse experience and the joy of human connection. People of all ages attended the event, which took place on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
The musical was a creative and educational initiative that brought the community together to celebrate the upcoming total solar eclipse. The students’ performance was a testament to the power of artistic expression and the ability of young minds to interpret and convey scientific phenomena through the arts.
