Taiwanese Server Industry Expected to See Growth in 2024

The Taiwanese server industry experienced a decline in revenues and shipments in 2023, but is expected to see growth in 2024, according to a report by DIGITIMES Research. The report estimates that Taiwanese server-related business revenue declined by 7% in 2023, reaching more than NT$2 trillion. This decline was smaller than the over 15% decrease in shipments, mainly due to high-end products commanding extremely high unit prices.

The surge in demand for high-end AI servers, driven by major cloud service providers’ campaigns to promote applications of large language models such as ChatGPT, is cited as a contributing factor. Looking ahead to 2024, the generative AI boom and the demand for general-purpose server replacements are expected to drive up Taiwanese makers’ server-related revenue by 15%.
