Sherwin Gardner, a Trinidadian singer based in the Bahamas, has achieved a remarkable milestone in his music career. His latest release, ‘Find Me Here (Blessings Find Me),’ has made history as the first gospel song to surpass a billion views on TikTok.
Since its debut in January, the Afrobeat track has garnered an impressive 1.1 billion TikTok views, along with 9.2 million digital streams and 2.2 million user-generated creations. This incredible achievement has propelled Gardner into the ranks of influential TikTok personalities, alongside notable figures like illusionist Zach King and actor The Rock.
Recently, Gardner visited the Manhattan offices of his distributor ADA to meet the staff and commemorate the unprecedented success of his song. The widespread acclaim for ‘Find Me Here (Blessings Find Me)’ has seen endorsements from renowned personalities including Alicia Keys, EVE, Yolanda Adams, Teddy Riley, Kel Mitchell, and Tabitha Smith, further solidifying its impact across social media.
Reflecting on the unexpected viral sensation, Gardner shared, ‘I created a 46-second song as a New Year’s Day affirmation. When I posted the video, I was thinking 100 people might like it. The next day, there were 100,000 views. By the end of the week, it was a million views.’ The overwhelming response sparked a competitive bidding war among major recording labels such as Sony, Island, and Universal Music, despite Gardner initially having only a partial song to offer.
Driven by the escalating demand, Gardner swiftly ventured into his Bahamian studio to produce a full track, which he then sent to Julius Nana, a talented Kenyan musician, for arrangement. Upon receiving Nana’s contributions, Gardner finalized the lead and background vocals, setting the stage for the unprecedented success of ‘Find Me Here (Blessings Find Me).’ This monumental achievement not only highlights Gardner’s musical prowess but also underscores the growing influence of gospel music in the digital landscape.
