The Oppo Find X7 series is making waves in the industry as it becomes the first to support 5.5G connectivity. This exciting development comes on the heels of China Mobile’s announcement of the commercial launch of 5G-Advanced, also known as 5.5G or 5GA.
Pete Lau, serving as the Chief Product Officer at Oppo, teased the Oppo Find X7 Ultra with ‘5GA’ displayed on its status bar, indicating its compatibility with the improved networking standard. Moreover, there are indications that the vanilla Oppo Find X7 will also receive an update to support 5.5G connectivity, despite using different chipsets – Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for the Ultra and Dimensity 9300 for the vanilla model. This positions the Find X7 series as the pioneer in 5.5G support.
While the current compatible devices are expected to grow to over 20 within a year, China Mobile plans to extend the new network to cover over 300 cities by the end of the year, with the first 100 including major metropolitan areas such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
The 5G-Advanced network boasts impressive speeds, promising to be 300% faster with download speeds of up to 10Gbps and upload speeds of 1Gbps. China Mobile has already set up demonstration areas across the country, allowing owners of the Find X7 series to experience the enhanced connectivity. Notably, 5G-Advanced is the marketing name for 3GPP Release 18, which incorporates ‘non-terrestrial networks’ involving the use of satellites as network cells, hinting at the possibility of an Oppo Find X7 Ultra with satellite communication in the works.
China Mobile’s initiative is a significant step towards the widespread adoption of 5.5G technology, and the Oppo Find X7 series is at the forefront of this revolution. As the industry continues to evolve, it’s clear that the future of mobile connectivity is set to reach new heights with the introduction of 5.5G support.
