Kia issues recall for over 427,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to potential risk of moving while in park
Kia has issued a recall for over 427,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a potential risk of moving while in park. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration posted a warning covering all Telluride vehicles manufactured between 2020 and 2023, as well as some 2024 models. The recall is related to the intermediate shaft and right front driveshaft, which may not be fully engaged due to suspected improper assembly by the supplier.
According to the NHTSA, the partial engagement of these components can cause damage to the intermediate shaft splines, potentially resulting in unintended vehicle movement while in park if the parking brake is not engaged. The recall was initiated following a review of vehicle and supplier production records.
Customers seeking information about their specific vehicle are advised to contact Kia’s Customer Care Center or a Kia dealer. This recall comes on the heels of Kia America’s recent recall of 48,232 vehicles, alongside Hyundai, for damaged charging units. FOX Business reached out to Kia for comment on the latest recall.
This latest recall adds to the growing list of recalls across the auto industry, highlighting the importance of vehicle safety and the need for proactive measures to address potential risks.
