Former Kansas City Chiefs cheerleader Krystal “>Krissy” Anderson passed away at the age of 40 due to sepsis following the stillbirth of her daughter at 21 weeks.
The official Instagram account of the Kansas City Chiefs’ cheerleaders expressed deep sorrow over Krissy’s passing, revealing her extensive involvement with the squad from 2006 to 2016. She had attended the Pro Bowl as the Chiefs’ representative in 2015, served as a team captain, cheered during the London game, and visited troops in various locations worldwide.
After her time as a Chiefs cheerleader, Krissy continued to serve in an alumni role on gamedays, practices, and events.
A GoFundMe campaign was initiated to honor her memory, indicating that Krissy lost her life on March 20 after battling sepsis. She was hospitalized during the 21st week of pregnancy and tragically lost her daughter, Charlotte, during childbirth. Despite undergoing three surgeries, the source of the infection remained unidentified, ultimately leading to her passing.
Krissy and her husband, Clayton Anderson, had previously experienced a stillbirth with their son James before the pregnancy with Charlotte.
The GoFundMe initially aimed to raise $25,000, a target that has been exceeded.
