Measles Warning Issued on Long Island

Health officials on Long Island have issued a warning about potential measles exposure, following a confirmed case in an unvaccinated child. The Nassau County Health Department is cautioning individuals who visited the Cohen Children’s Medical Center emergency department waiting room and treatment area in New Hyde Park between 6:45 p.m. on March 20 and 3:30 p.m. on March 21.

Cohen Children’s Medical Center is taking measures to contact patients who may have been exposed and has identified those at high risk. Measles symptoms include fever, cough, a runny nose, and a rash.

This advisory comes in the wake of a child being diagnosed with measles on Long Island, highlighting the importance of vaccination and public health awareness.
