8BitDo Unveils Budget-Friendly Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller with Innovative Features

8BitDo, a popular gaming accessory manufacturer, has unveiled its latest budget-friendly wireless controller, the Ultimate 2C, priced at $29.99. This new gamepad comes equipped with innovative features designed to enhance the gaming experience for PC and Android users.

The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller boasts an additional pair of shoulder buttons, addressing the needs of most gamers. It incorporates Hall effect sticks and triggers to prevent issues like the well-known ‘Joy-Con drift’ problem found in the Nintendo Switch controllers. Moreover, the controller offers versatile connectivity options, including USB-C, Bluetooth, and a 2.4GHz dongle with impressive 1,000Hz polling rates.

Although the Ultimate 2C seems like a promising deal, there are some limitations to consider. The Bluetooth functionality of this controller is limited to Android devices, excluding compatibility with the Nintendo Switch, Apple devices, and other consoles. Additionally, for wireless PC usage, users will need to utilize the provided dongle.

One of the standout features of the Ultimate 2C is the inclusion of extra shoulder buttons that can be customized to mimic the functions of other buttons. This eliminates the need for additional software or app configurations, offering a seamless gaming experience.

Similar to its predecessor, the Ultimate C controllers, the new Ultimate 2C does not support 8BitDo’s customization software for adjusting trigger sensitivity or button remapping. However, the controller’s ‘L4’ and ‘R4’ buttons beneath the shoulder buttons can be reassigned to replicate various functions without the requirement of external configurations.

Furthermore, the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C will introduce a range of vibrant color options, including green, purple, peach, and a mint variant with striking orange buttons and sticks. This expansion into colorful designs aims to provide users with more personalized choices in their gaming accessories.

The Ultimate 2C is set to launch on July 15th, with an anticipated release on Amazon. While hands-on reviews are pending, the $29.99 price tag suggests a competitive offering compared to the previous models from 8BitDo. Gaming enthusiasts can look forward to exploring the enhanced features and customization options that the Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller brings to the table.
