30th Annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards Goes Hostless for Fourth Year in a Row

The 30th Annual Screen Actor’s Guild Awards is set to kick off tonight, but viewers shouldn’t expect any host as the prestigious ceremony will continue its tradition for the fourth year running by going ahead without an emcee. The awards show, honoring the best performances of the year in TV and film, will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 24, at 8 p.m. EST.

Back in 2021, producers for the show told Variety the decision not to include a host was because they were hoping to increase ratings and hopefully imitate the success the Oscars had when it went hostless. Instead, they turned to presenters to provide entertainment for the night along with pre-taped comedic bits between categories. The ditching of hosts also helped the ceremony get through awards quickly. For most of its history, the SAG Awards did not have a host until Kristen Bell took over the 2018 show followed by Megan Mullally in 2019.
