255 Test Tube Babies in Lucknow Come Together for a Meet
Lucknow: A unique gathering took place at a local hospital in Lucknow on Sunday, as 255 test tube babies, born through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) technique, came together for a special meet.
The event was attended by 255 children who were born through IVF, including Lucknow’s first IVF baby, Prarthna, who has now grown into a young adult and gave birth to Pavani naturally two years ago.
Dr. Gita Khanna, a renowned IVF expert and director of Ajanta Hospital, highlighted the increasing affordability of IVF treatment, noting that a growing number of middle-class working women are opting to freeze their eggs for future delivery. This trend allows them to experience motherhood at their convenience, marking a significant shift in societal norms.
According to Dr. Khanna, the number of cases involving egg freezing for future delivery has risen significantly, with hundreds of women now availing of this option. She emphasized that this practice is no longer limited to celebrities and the affluent class.
Dr. Khanna, who played a pivotal role in the birth of both Prarthna and Pavani, described them as an inspiration for aspiring IVF parents.
