2024 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament Preview

The 2024 NCAA men’s lacrosse tournament is set to kick off with 17 teams vying for the national championship. The tournament field will be announced on Sunday night, with a play-in game before the Round of 16. Fans can catch the Selection Show on ESPN2 at 9:30 p.m. ET to see which teams will be competing this year.

Last year’s champions, Notre Dame, will be looking to defend their title after defeating Duke 13-9 in the national championship game. Led by players like Pat Kavanagh, Chris Kavanagh, and goalie Liam Entenmann, Notre Dame is a force to be reckoned with. Duke, on the other hand, boasts a strong lineup with Brennan O’Neill and Dyson Williams leading the attack.

Other notable teams in the tournament include Penn State and Virginia, who both made it to the Final Four last year. Virginia, the national champions in 2019 and 2021, will be looking to add another title to their collection.

The tournament bracket features a mix of automatic berths and at-large teams. Notre Dame, Duke, Johns Hopkins, and Syracuse are among the top seeds in the tournament. Schools like Denver, Virginia, and Maryland will also be looking to make a deep run in the competition.

As the tournament kicks off, fans can look forward to exciting matchups and intense competition. The schedule includes a play-in game between Albany and Sacred Heart, followed by the first round games held at the higher seeded team’s stadium on May 11 and May 12. The quarterfinals will take place on May 18 and May 19 at James M. Shuart Stadium in Hempstead.
