A new healthcare facility is set to transform the landscape of transportation hubs in New Jersey. Russo Development is leading a $200 million redevelopment project at the Metropark train station in Woodbridge, N.J., which will house a pioneering health and wellness center as part of the Hackensack Meridian Health network.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the 60,000-sf Health and Wellness Center is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the bustling Metropark Station, marking a significant milestone in the state’s transportation and community health vision. The project is part of a larger initiative to modernize transportation hubs, championed by New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, to create multi-use spaces for residential, office, retail, and restaurants.
The redevelopment, valued at $200 million, is being executed by DOR, a consortium led by Russo Development. The project received a $110 million tax credit grant through the state’s ASPIRE program, which supports transportation development with community benefits.
The Health and Wellness Center is poised to offer a wide range of services, including primary care, medical and surgical specialties, a sports and spine center, advanced imaging, bloodwork, rehabilitation, a retail pharmacy, occupational health, and urgent care. With approximately 60,000 people traveling through Metropark Station each month, the facility aims to provide convenient access to healthcare for commuters and visitors alike.
According to Robert C. Garrett, CEO of Hackensack Meridian, the new facility will offer easy access to best-in-class healthcare professionals, aligning with the health system’s commitment to addressing the diverse healthcare needs of the community. The center is expected to open next year, enhancing the overall experience for those utilizing the transportation hub.
